So it is with Hong Kong. Page through this exuberant, lively book to see for yourself, and take your children there.
From bamboo rickshaws taxi-ing visitors through exotic streets fragrant with incense, roasting chestnuts and honey-glazed peking duck…at every turn is a tempting sight and experience.
This is Hong Kong, was one of Sasek's three favourite books. It was such an unusual book to do. The fun he had writing it shows in the illustrations: it is a particularly joyful book. A non-western location seems to suit Sasek's drawings and there are some wonderful illustrations of people and streets with ornate writing carefully copied.
